PD Dr. Ingo Rohrer
In the summer semester of 2022, I will replace Prof. Dr. Annette Hornbacher and enhance the departments profile with my research topics and regional focus. I am working mainly in the Southern Cone of South America and have conducted extended fieldwork on issues of masculinity, youth cultures, friendship and close social relationships, bureaucratic organization, trust, mistrust, ignorance, and imagination.
I studied anthropology, art history, and political science at the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, where I also received my PhD in 2012 with a thesis entitled 'Cohesion and Dissolution. Friendship in the Globalized Punk and Hardcore Scene of Buenos Aires'. I was awarded the habilitation and venia legendi in anthropology in 2022 with my professorial thesis 'The Fear of Erring. Mistrust, Ignorance and Imagination in the Argentine Justice System' from the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. Most recently, I held a substitute professorship at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich.
